Maryke Miller

I started my Potting Career in the 1980s in Brisbane.

I completed a Certificate Course in Ceramics over 2 years at the South Brisbane TAFE College. Wheel throwing was my preferred way of working with Clay and it still is today. I also enjoy Hand building and Sculpting.

I started going to the Markets in late 1980 and continued with that in Brisbane and later in Stanthorpe for over 20 years. At the Brisbane Markets, I sold a lot of work to people from all over the World and had regular Overseas Customers who would return each year to add to their collection.

Gallery Owners would come to the Markets to look for Artists work they could display in their Galleries and over the years I  supplied work to Galleries in different parts of Australia on a regular basis. Nearly all of this work was High Fired Stoneware.

Since coming to Stanthorpe I have concentrated more on creating One-Off Pieces. I have also branched out into more Low Fired work, particularly Saggar Fired pieces. Lately, I have started to do some Raku Fired work as well as Horse Hair Firings.
